Your Dentists

Gary D Roth DDS

Dr. Roth has served Fairfield Iowa and the surrounding area for 35 years.  Dr. Roth is a graduate of University of Iowa College of Dentistry, class of 1981.  Dr. Roth has held multiple appointments throughout his career, including:

  • Adjunct Faculty at the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry for 9yrs
  • State of Iowa Dental Board for 9 years
  • State of Iowa Dental Board chairman 1 year
  • Member and examiner for the Central Regional Dental Testing Service, a dental licensing body
  • Past member and Chair of  The Jefferson County Board of Health
  • Past Chairman Southeast Iowa District Dental Peer Review Committee.
  • Current member of the Anesthesia and Sedation Committee of the State of Iowa Dental Board

Dr. Roth is active in the First United Methodist Church of Fairfield, enjoys performing with multiple area musical ensembles including the Southeast Iowa Symphony and Band, Fairfield Municipal Band, local community theater pit orchestras, and the Fairfield Big Band.

Dr. Roth is a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association and the Southeast Iowa District Dental Association.

Alex J Roth DDS

Graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, class of 2011.  Dr. Alex completed his education while enrolled in the Army’s Health Professions Scholarship Program and immediately began service in the United States Army Dental Corps upon graduation.  Dr. Roth’s first year post graduation was spent advancing his clinical skills as a resident in the Army’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Ft Benning GA.  He then served the next 4 years as a Dental Officer at Ft Richardson Army Post in Anchorage Alaska. After his 5 years of service Dr. Alex and his wife Amy and daughter Ava made the exciting move back home to Fairfield to begin practice here at Roth Dental Care.

He is excited to serve the people of Fairfield and surrounding communities.  Dr. Alex enjoys practicing the full scope of comprehensive general dentistry.

Dr. Alex is a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, and the SE Iowa District Dental Association.

Melanie A Roth Norton, DDS

Dr. Norton is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry class of 2017. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa national honor society and Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. In her fourth year of dental training Dr. Norton served in externships in pediatric dentistry at St. Luke’s Dental Health Center in Cedar Rapids and in Geriatrics and Special Needs dentistry at the University of Iowa.

Melanie is married to husband Ben Norton, also of Fairfield. Together they live in Fairfield with their vizsla, Moto and their cat, Reno. Melanie and Ben enjoy most outdoor activities including biking, hiking, pheasant hunting, snowboarding, and motorcycling.

Dr. Norton is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the Southeast Iowa District Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Your Hygienists

Kim Pedretti

Kim grew up in Elkader, IA and attended Kirkwood Community College where she graduated in 2003 with her Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She has enjoyed working at Roth Dental since 2007. Kim lives with her husband Justin and their two daughters Ali and Audrey. When not working Kim enjoys all forms of hunting, baking gourmet goodies, and keeping up with her daughter’s extracurriculars.

Danita Maddy

Danita attended Mt. Pleasant Community School district and Hawkeye Community College where she graduated in 2002 with her Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene with honors. She has been working at Roth Dental since 2013. Danita lives with her husband Luke and their three fur babies Daisy, Cooper, and Nilla. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading, interior decorating, and shoe shopping.

Dental Assistants

Emily McIntyre

Emily is daughter of Dr. Gary and sister to Dr. Alex. She loves being apart of the family practice. Emily is a Registered Dental Assistant and has worked in the practice since 2006. Emily loves spending time with her husband, her son, Reston, and her dogs. She also enjoys playing piano for the First United Methodist Church and performing in local community theaters.

Emily Shull

Emily started out as a dental assisting student doing clinical rotation at Roth Dental in 2015. Upon her graduation from the Indian Hills Dental Assisting Program in 2015 she began work as a full time employee. Emily is a Nationally Certified and Iowa Registered assistant. She graduated high school from Cardinal in 2013. Emily enjoys reading and spending her time with her family at the race track in Eldon and surrounding communities, where her brother races.

Cassie Rodgers

Cassie was born and raised in Southeast Iowa. She grew up on a farm and has a strong agricultural background. She attended Davis County Community High School. After graduating high school, she attended Indian Hills Community College and graduated from the Dental Assisting Program in 2014. She is a member of the American Dental Assistants Association and is also a member of the Indian Hills Dental Assisting Board. Cassie is a Nationally Certified Assistant (CDA) and an Iowa Registered Assistant (RDA). Cassie loves working with patients chairside, as well as helping them with insurance and scheduling at the front desk.

Cassie’s nephew is her pride and joy! In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, shopping, traveling, riding horses, watching Iowa Hawkeye football games, cooking with her mom, and spending time with her fur baby; a Shih Tzu named Gizzy.

Katrina Cope

Katrina was born in Conroe Texas and moved to Iowa with her family during her teenage years. She graduated from Pekin high school in 2010. Following high school, she attended Indian Hills Community College where she obtained her Associate of Arts degree. She graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Indian Hills Community College in 2014. Katrina is an Iowa Registered Assistant (RDA) as well as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA).

Katrina and her husband Ben reside in Van Buren County with their daughter, Aubrey. They love doing just about anything outdoors. Katrina enjoys spending her free time with her family, kayaking, working out, and running, but she especially loves riding and racing dirt bikes!

Front Desk

Jayne McLain

Jayne is the office manager at Roth Dental. At one time Jayne worked with Dr. Gary Roth early in his career as a dental assistant and continues to keep her Dental Assistant registration current. She returned to Roth Dental in 2006. She has three grown children, eight grandchildren.  Jayne and her husband Rick, three dogs and a cat live on a farm in Van Buren County.  She enjoys gardening, riding her bike on RAGBRAI, and  spending time with family.

Chris Countryman

Chris helps keep the office running smoothly as the receptionist at the front desk. In the past Chris was a registered dental assistant, working with Dr. Gary Roth when he first moved to Fairfield in the late 1980’s, even assisting him during his National Dental Board exams. In between Chris raised her children and worked with the Fairfield Community School district, returning to Roth Dental in 2004. Chris has three grown children and lives with her husband Steve. She enjoys the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending time with her family.
